Hans Kuropatwa

Gulfraz has more than 12 years of investment banking experience primarily in the telecoms sector. Over this time, he has advised on over $100 billion worth of M&A deals and successfully executed over $50 billion of capital raising transactions, including debt and equity issuances. Gulfraz currently has responsibility for Citi's telecom franchise in the MENA region but his focus is more broadly aligned geographically to the emerging markets in the Middle-East, Africa and Asia. He has previously covered European telecom and financial sponsor clients based out of London and has also held positions in New York and Singapore.

Gulfraz holds a Masters in Finance from the London Business School and a BSc in Mathematics with first class honours from University College London.

Hans is currently Director of Business Development at QTEL International. He has spent over 20 years in the mobile business, initially with Motorola, and subsequently with Vodafone and as an independent advisor.

He has served as EMEA regional Managing Director for Vodafone sitting on the boards of 14 cellular operating companies in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. These ranged from large developed market operators such as Omnitel (Vodafone Italy) to early stage emerging market players such as Safaricom (Kenya). He has also served as the CEO of Vodafone Sweden and CEO of Motorola’s Telco in the UK.

Prior to joining QTEL Hans advised a number of private equity funds on TMT transactions and post acquisition integration and managed consulting projects for cellular operators in both Europe and the Middle East.

Hans is also an investor and non-executive director of a number of early stage TMT companies including Arkessa (M2M connectivity) and Skill-Pill (mobile learning).
